Thursday 24 February 2022 Highlights

Epic Light Installations in Hastings Town Centre
The currently vacant site of Debenhams, in the town centre, will be brought to life through illumination, motion and colour, with a large-scale projected artwork animating the building and capturing the attention and imagination of audiences.

Bell Orchestra, an interactive musical instrument, will be in place inviting audiences of all ages to come together to play beautiful melodies on a set of illuminated giant chimes.

Audiences can also pop to the Busking Stage in America Ground and enjoy the best musicians Hastings and St Leonards has to offer, outdoors in this lit-up mobile stage.

White Rock Theatre Takeover: A Carnival of Creativity
Those in the know will have already spotted that date coincides with Hastings’ own Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday,  so they’ve partnered up with White Rock Theatre to explore the theme of ‘Carnival’, bringing a riot of colour and fun, with carnival workshops, a music makers’ market, circus skills for beginners and lots more.

Thursday the 31st March Highlights

Spring into Life, Old Town
To mark spring equinox; The famed organisers of Jack in the Green will be holding ‘Lady Day’, a special celebration of the female Jack with drumming, jigging giants, morris dancing and more. This will be an extra-special, one-off Jack in the Green event, welcoming the start of spring and the return of the light, as well as the return of this beloved event in May 2022.  Not to be missed!

Swinging Kings, St Leonards
The organisers are also planning a ‘Spring Street Party’ on the Kings Road for the March event, featuring an extravaganza of dancing, singing, live art, drumming processions to follow, late night shopping and more. Again, do make sure you take a look at the programme in full, via the Hastings Last Thursday website.

Museum of Us, St Leonards
Following a public call-out for creative projects, local artist and ethical taxidermist, Jazmine Miles-Long will present a pop-up travelling museum created by the people of Hastings (which will eventually be held in Hastings Museum and Art Gallery). “The ‘Museum of Us’ aims to unite all people to create a platform for expression for everyone to feel represented and seen to encourage a feeling of collective community, solidarity and place.” – Jazmine M-L

Every month there will be special late-night shopping events, along with bars and food stalls offering their own entertainments and eating options.
