Our legendary queer performance party returns!

Salty offers a space for LGBTQ+ folks and their allies to come together, have fun and enjoy some unforgettable queer performance.  

Join us for one of the first cabaret events in the new White Rock Theatre Studio, where we will showcase six short performances from an extraordinary lineup of queer artists, all hosted by infamous drag artist Yshee Black. There will be time to chat and have a drink between each act, and then DJ Sarah Buller will take over for the last hour with dancing and good vibes.

This edition of Salty is part of our co-curated ‘BLACK JOY!’ programme within Knotty, a festival of performance for the adventurous from 6 to 16 June 2024.

  • YSHEE BLACK (pronounced whYSHEE BLACK) is known for curating and hosting her own lipsync competition in her home city of Birmingham aptly named The Church of Yshee. Over the years she has toured the UK with drag queen story time theatre collective Fantabulosa and created her one woman show for kids ‘JOY’ as well as performing in events up and down the country. She currently works in media, recently appearing on Channel 4’s Late Night Lycett hosted by comedian Joe Lycett and interviewing contestants on various Rupaul Drag Race shows as well as a number of film actors.

    Bambi Jordan Phillips is a creative producer, movement artist and model interested in driving artistic work for social change. Bambi quickly became a cornerstone of the London Ballroom Scene, where she is a part of the iconic, Unforgettable House of Revlon and Mother of the Kiki House of Laveaux. Bambi believes in Voguing as a form of social activism - a direct connection to trans embodied ancestry. She creates work that explores identity and the deconstruction of learned ideas of gender, sexuality, desire and race.

    Harry Alexander is an acclaimed contemporary dancer and movement director based in London. Harry will be performing explosive Twiggy and Andy Warhol dance pieces devised by Thick and Tight whose choreographic style is intricate, distinctive and musical, and incorporates elements of queer performance such as drag, lip-syncing and camp humour.

    Mr IPM aka Mr International Pusssy Magnet aka Azara Meghie is a multidisciplinary artist sharing personal politics on sexuality, gender, racism, classism and homophobia through live art and film using poetry, breakdancing and theatre. Mr IPM is her drag king act – an East End bboy with an eye for the ladies…. and her response to fashion and music Grace Jones, Finding Grace, blending poetry and dance-theatre.

    Paris Grande is, in her own words a “lip sync extraordinaire, all round entertainer & professional hoe!” Her work uses the lens of drag to explore world events and media portrayals of the “Good” and the “Bad”.

    DJ Sarah Buller is a Hastings based DJ and Artist who has played local venues across Hastings and St.Leonards such as Hastings Pier, Printworks, The St. Leonard, Supernature and venues across Brighton and London. She's a lover of sharing music from the originating from diaspora from Soul, Reggaeton, RnB,Afrobeats, Dancehall, Disco and beyond!

  • There is wheelchair access into the venue via a ramp to the right of the entrance. From here there is lift access to Sussex Studio.

    An accessible toilet is located on Level 2.

    There is also a gender neutral toilet at the venue.
