Artist Development — Angel Rose with Oozing Gloop
Part of New Fragments
Home Live Art are currently supporting artists Angel Rose and Oozing Gloop on the development of their on-going project ‘Serious Fun’ due to be presented at Project 78 Gallery in St Leonards this summer.
Angel Rose is an interdisciplinary artist based in Hastings whose practice spans performance, writing, video and printed media.
Oozing Gloop is the only disabled artist in the UK using drag in conjunction with chaos magic to engineer public political spectacle.
Angel and Gloop have been working together since 2014, when they created ‘The Serious Fun Funzine’, a zine which explored the philosophy of fun.
Described by Dazed and Confused as “the rocky horror of self-publishing“, The ‘Serious Fun Funzine’ included interviews with artists Kembra Pfahler and Kalan Sherrard, as well as a manifesto entitled ‘The Emancipation of Enjoyment.’
Serious Fun also created a live act and video works, which have been screened and performed at various events, including The Sunday Times panel discussion, ‘Have Millennials Forgotten How To Have Fun?’, and more recently, at Ben Walter’s ‘Queer Fun Symposium’ in 2017.
Serious Fun have reunited and a second interactive issue of the ‘The Serious Fun Funzine’ is being developed.
Part of New Fragments, a bursary programme set up to support artists to develop their practice and enable them to continue their work during lockdown.
